Dorset Blue Vinny is a FINALIST in the Great British Cheese Awards!!

Dorset Blue Vinny made at Woodbridge Farm has been announced as a shortlisted finalist in the 2018 Great British Cheese Awards {www.greatbritishcheeseawards.com]. Their Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese is one of five artisan cheeses selected in the Best Blue Cheese category and the People’s Choice category.

The Great British Cheese Awards [www.greatbritishcheeseawards.com] are organised by Great British Chefs (The UK’s fastest growing food website) and Peter’s Yard, whose sourdough crispbread has been named as “the best biscuit for cheese out there.” The awards were established three years ago to celebrate the best of British artisan cheeses produced and distributed by independent cheese makers and retailers.

The Great British Cheese Awards stand apart from similar events as no other awards bring together the online voting and nominating public with a cross-section of high quality judges that include award-winning chefs, journalists, food writers, celebrity food bloggers, cheese buyers and dairy technologists. This year, over 13,000 people have voted for their favourite cheeses, producers and retailers.

As a shortlisted finalist Dorset Blue will now have their Dorset Blue Vinny cheese judged by an esteemed panel of judges that include:

Patrick McGuigan – Food Journalist and Cheese Writer, Chantelle Nicholson – Group Operations Director for Marcus Wareing Restaurants & Chef Patron at Tredwells, Paul Thomas – Dairy Technologist, Tracey Colley – Founding Director at The Academy of Cheese, Robin Gill - Chef Owner of The Dairy, Clapham, Felicity Spector – TV News journalist & Great Taste Awards Judge, Shane Holland - Executive Chairman of Slow Food in the UK, Matthew Carver – Owner of The Cheese Bar, Jane Devonshire – MasterChef Champion 2016, Adam Woodyatt – Actor & Food Blogger, Regula Ysewijn – Food Writer, Photographer and Great Taste Awards judge, Owen Davies - Category Manager at Harvey & Brockless, Signe Johnsen – cook & author, Martin Stanhope – Editor of Countryside Magazine, Galton Blackiston – Owner & Chef Patron of Morston Hall, Clare Stiles, Marketing Manager at Peter’s Yard and Ollie Lloyd, CEO at Great British Chefs.

“We are beyond excited to be a finalist in the Great British Cheese Awards. We’ve been making Dorset Blue Vinny cheese here at Woodbridge Farm for more than 35 years and are incredibly honoured to have made it this far. Thank you to everyone who voted, your support means the world to us!! We think awards like the Great British Cheese Awards are extra special because they give the public a chance to vote for their favourite cheese instead of just presenting our product to a panel of judges. Big thanks again for your all your votes, fingers crossed for 17th October when the winner is announced!!”

The overall category winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at Somerset House in London on 17th October.
